The Rainbow Warrior

On the 10th July 1985, French secret service agents planted two bombs on the Greenpeace boat The Rainbow Warrior while it was moored in Auckland harbour getting ready to confront French nuclear testing in the Moruroa Atoll. One crew member was killed.

It now rests out at the Cavalli Islands. A stunningly colourful dive steeped in NZ history. With depths ranging 17m- 27m and listing to the starboard side, you can still see the blast hole made by the bombs. The Rainbow Worrier truly lives up to its name now, as it has become covered in stunning jewel anemones of yellows, pinks, purples, blues and whites. Teeming with life, expect to see Snapper, John Dory, eel’s, crayfish, Sand-daggers, and much more.
